1971 Alfa Romeo Spider, Series 2, LHD
Regretfully up for sale is my lovely Alfa Romeo Spider in the original correct colour of “Rosso Pininfarina”
Just over a year ago in between Covid 19 lockdowns we managed to fly out to Milan and buy this car. We then drove it some 1200 km’s from Lake Como to the South of France taking the in beautiful coastal roads, exactly what this car was made for! I shipped it back after our trip and then registered it here in the UK.
Remarkably this is one of the first Series 2, two litre Spiders produced, being No 35 off the production line in July 1971. The other reason I bought this car other than the condition and low mileage was that the first owner in Torino owned and cherished it for some 41 years before it passed into the hands of an Alfa collector in Milan.
It has had new floors and seals fitted naturally but other that it’s very original and rust free. The matching numbers engine has had a cylinder head rebuild and the transmission rebuilt just a few years ago.
Recently I have fitted a new flywheel ring gear and starter motor then carried out a full service including all the ignition items and fitted new rear brake shoes.
Included in the history file are copies of the original green registration book with road tax stamps in stating the first owners name along with her insurance paperwork from 1971. Also present is the original service book, manual and plastic wallet from the supplying dealer Monzglio in Torino. along with a Certificate of Authenticity from Padano Historical Vehicles Register in Italy. Rarely do you get this kind of history with a car of this age and condition so provenance is the factor here hence the slightly higher price I’m asking.
She drives super smooth with plenty of power and with the roof down driving through the county lanes the pleasure don’t get much better so if you are looking for a nice one in proper LHD form then look no further..
I have a Porsche 356 on its way from the states so time to let this go unfortunately.
